Download / bootloader mode

Samsung phones don't usually have a boot mode. To get one you have to install twrp. Then you can access twrp using:

  power button (wait 1/2 a second), volume up button (wait 1/2 a second), home button

Download mode

  power button (wait 1/2 a second), volume down button (wait 1/2 a second), home button

Rooting

I tried CF Auto root and I got the red seandroid warning. If it refuses to boot after this or gets stuck on this message you can get the phone to reboot by pressing the download mode buttons. Root checker didn't show that it was rooted either. Knox was tripped. Oneclickroot seems to be a scam. In the end I got there by flashing twrp and magisk. Supersu didn't really always work for some reason.

How to Root Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus SM-G928? (International, Canada, T-Mobile, Sprint, US-Cellular, China, Korea)

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus International version comes with a flexible bootloader other than Verizon devices. Verizon devices come with locked Bootloader. This means that different smartphone variants can be easily rooted. Also, the device can accept to install TWRP recovery or any separate custom recovery file/app alike.

TWRP recovery is a custom recovery file which must be installed on Samsung Galaxy devices because you can root them successfully. In this article, we explained the easiest method to follow and install TWRP recovery on Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. However, the tool required for rooting this device is the Magisk App.

With the help of TWRP Recovery, you can quickly flash the latest version of Magisk into your S6 Edge Plus to gain root access. Before sharing the tutorial, you may want to know that, with the TWRP recovery present on your device, you can easily install any custom ROM or firmware. Does it seem complicated? Relax, everything will be explained succinctly in bullets. Things to check out for;

   Check your device model number.

   Select TWRP Based on the mobile model number.

   Make sure your device battery is charged above 50%

   Backup your current files and data, just in case (save them on external storage).

Pre-Requirement Steps

Enabling developer option

   Enable USB Debugging Mode and OEM Unlock in your mobile. To do this; go to settings >>> about >>> Tap on the “Build Number” 7-10 times consistently to enable “Developer Options,” then go to the “Developer Options” and enable USB Debugging Mode and OEM Unlock. There is no complicated process in the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

   Download and install the Samsung USB driver to your computer system.

   Also, download the ODIN software. Select above Oreo version in the ODIN list. Install ODIN in your PC.
   Download Magisk.Zip (Latest Version) and Copy it to Your Phone Memory.

   Download and save the TWRP File. Please select correct model number TWRP file.

Flash TWRP using ODIN

   Restart the device. Then, enter into Download mode. To do this; press and hold down the Volume Down + Home+ Power buttons at the same time for some time.

   Press the Volume Up button to continue when you see the warning message.

   Now, connect the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus mobile to the computer via USB cable.

   Launch the Odin app on your computer. If the device is detected by this app (Odin), it will show you a message that reads – added!!!

However, if the device is not correctly connected to the PC, you won’t see this message. So, you have to check the USB cable if it is reasonable and reconnect the device.

   After connecting the Samsung device, click on the PDA/PA button to browse/search and get the TWRP from where you saved it on your PC. Also, navigate to “options” and tick the Auto Reboot.

   Once the file is loaded into the device, reboot your device.

   Kudos, you have just Installed the TWRP on your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. If you installed TWRP, Don’t turn on your mobile. Immediately, move to Magisk Installation steps.

   Boot it Into recovery mode->Volume Up+ Home +Power Button.

   Now it Will Boot into TWRP Recovery Mode.

   Select Wipe->Advance Wipe->Select Cache Data.

   Return to Home of TWRP select Install.

   Select Magisk.Zip.

   After the Installation Reboot Your Mobile.

   You can also install Magisk Manager in your Mobile Applications.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus model is an old device. Even If you receive regular patch updates, Samsung keeps adding bloatware in those updates. If you use Lite weight Custom Roms, you can expect a considerable performance Improvement. So, If you have little knowledge in tech, I advise you to Root and uninstall some unwanted apps. How To Root Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Android Smartphone

Step 1: To get started, take a complete backup of personal data on your smartphone using appropriate apps. We will use this backup to restore your personal data if your device gets corrupted during the rooting process.

Step 2: Next, download Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus USB driver and install it in your computer. Only by installing the USB driver on your device, you will be able to connect the smartphone to computer.

Step 3: Now, enable “Developer Options” in your device by following this path: Settings -> About Phone -> Build Number (tap on it for 7 times). Once done, enable USB debugging mode by following this path: Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging.

Step 1: To get started, download Odin and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus TWRP recovery image (twrp-3.1.1.1.img.tar) to your computer. Once downloaded, launch Odin window.

Step 2: Next, switch off your smartphone and boot into the download/bootloader mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down, Power and Home buttons simultaneously.

If you have installed the USB drivers of Galaxy C7 in your computer properly, Odin will automatically identify your device, and you will see a “Added” message in its Logs. Also, the ID:COM will turn to “Blue” color.

Step 4: Now, click on the “AP” button in Odin window and select the twrp-2.8.7.0-j2lte.img.tar file.

Step 5: Next, click on the “Start” button to launch the flashing process (which will take a minute or two to get completed). Once the flashing process is finished, you will get a “PASS” message in the Odin. Your device will also get rebooted.

Step 6: Now, unplug your smartphone from the computer.

If it all goes wrong

If for some reason you get it all wrong it's easiest to take your phone back to stock firmware / rom.

How to Download Odin Firmware to Downgrade, Upgrade, or Restore your Samsung Galaxy

This gives you a link to SamFirm v0.3.6 which is a (windows) programme that will download the correct firmware. This can take a while, because the file is +-4GB large. After this has been downloaded it will be checked and decrypted (this can take a while) and then you have to unzip it yourself. Loading the file (under AP) in Odin will take quite some time and will give a timeout. Wait for it before you flash :)

If you trip Knox, your warranty is void and samsung pay and cloud don't work any more. Once it's tripped, you can't untrip it.

Step 1Install the Debloater Module

First, open up the Magisk Manager app, tap the menu button on the left, then head to "Downloads." Tap the search icon in the upper-right and search for "debloater", then the module you need will pop up. Tap the download arrow and then hit "Install." Once it finishes, tap the "Close" option at the bottom-left. Step 2Install the BusyBox Module

The Debloater module uses special root commands known as BusyBox. So for the app to fully function, you'll need to download an additional module.

Just as you did with the previous step, head to the "Downloads" section in Magisk Manager to find the module, but this time search for "busybox," then download and install the module in the same manner. Once the install finishes, tap the "Reboot" option at the bottom-right to restart your device so you can start killing that bloatware.

Note: BusyBox is a set of root commands needed in the terminal environment to run the Debloater Magisk module. If you plan on using other command line Magisk modules, you're going to be making good use of BusyBox from here on out and well into the future.

Step 3Install the Terminal App

Depending on what device you have, some may already come with a terminal application by default through the developer options. However, the universal method across all devices would be to download the Termux app from the Google Play Store. When it comes to command line situations, no app out there is as widely recommended quite like Termux is.

Step 4Run the Commands

Open the Termux app to the main screen, type the following command, and then tap enter:

  su

When you're prompted to do so, tap "Grant" on the root access popup to grant the appropriate superuser rights to the terminal app.

Once the superuser permissions have been granted, type in the next command, followed by enter:

  debloat

This command will immediately launch the Debloat Magisk module interface so you can start removing any bloatware from your system.

For me I couldn't see the busybox module in the debloat app so I had to do

  cp /data/adb/magisk busybox /system/xbin/

Step 5Uninstall Bloatware

Now comes the best part — finally being able to look over your entire system's bloatware and remove anything you don't want. On the main menu of the Debloater module, you have multiple options to pick from, but the main focus should be on choice number one for now. Go ahead and type "1" and hit enter to scan your device for all of the system installed apps.

Once the scan is finished, you'll be presented with an extensive list of all the system apps installed on your internal storage. Go through the list in detail and uninstall any app you want by typing in the corresponding number, then hitting enter. If you want to batch uninstall multiple apps at once, type each number, but make sure to add a space in between each one.

After you make your choice and press enter, the list of apps will appear with some information and then a confirmation input. If everything checks out, type "y" to proceed with dumping the bloatware from your system for good. Once you're all finished and no changes need to be made, input "n" when it asks if you want to return to the menu.

To uninstall carrier or OEM bloat, repeat this process, but choose "3" from the main menu to select Vendor Apps. This section shouldn't have as many apps in it, but it may house some of the more obnoxious bloatware, depending on your device.

If you want to scrub the bloatware at an even higher level from your system, select "System Priv-Apps," which is option 2 on the Debloater main menu. Just be careful here since these apps are a bit more sensitive and could mess things up if you don't know what you're removing.

The final thing you need to do is reboot your device, then you're all done! Upon a reboot, you should now notice all of the apps you uninstalled through the Debloater module are not there anymore.
